MPCC LEADERSHIP UPDATES:
MPCC Community Update
Tuesday, March 17, 2020
Hello MPCC Family,
I would like to start with another well-known scripture that has come to mind recently— Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” There is much to glean in times like this. For some the constant changes and unknowns may illicit fear, but here we see one of the 365 reminders in the Bible to not be afraid. Some may be feeling alone and isolated, but we can feel peace knowing that God will always be with us. While life may look different for a while, we need not be discouraged!
As a church, expect things to look a little different for a time due to the COVID-19 virus. We have been advised to cancel or adapt all in-person meetings that have more than 10 attendees. This impacts most of what we do at MPCC. We are doing everything we can to adapt our ministries and avoid cancellations in the weeks ahead while remaining compliant to the suggestions and mandates if the CDC/MDH.
Below you will find the direction for most of our ministries at MPCC. Please note that all decisions are subject to change. We are operating on a “week-to-week” basis as situations and suggestions may change rapidly. Please check our website (www.mpcommunitychurch.org) as the most updated information will be posted there.
Sunday Worship Service and Connections Hour –We are moving our worship service online starting this Sunday, March 22nd. Online options are being evaluated for connections hour for future Sundays as well. We are still sorting out the technological details, but our goal is to make this simple and accessible for all our congregants. Stay tuned later this week for more details! It will be a fun and creative way to worship collectively.
Children’s Ministries- Roots is cancelled for March 18th and there is a planned break for Spring Break on March 25th. Roots will resume on April 1st in an online format, assuming current restrictions continue. The Roots team will be in touch with leaders and parents with more details. Our goal is to make this easy and accessible for both leaders and families. We are also working hard behind the scenes to get the children’s Connections Hour lessons to you. Stephanie is compiling children’s resources and activities to share with our parents through our church website. We are also continuing to plan our fun summer activities – including VBS!
Summit (Jr./Sr. High Ministries) - Feed My Starving Children is cancelled this Wednesday (March 18th) and Summit will not meet. The next week (March 25th) is Summit's scheduled Spring Break. It is very likely that Summit will plan to do youth group online starting on April 1st. Phil will give more information on that as the date is closer.
Bible Studies and Small Groups – All bible studies and small groups are cancelled for the week. We are securing a resource called Microsoft Zoom to help move your group studies online through video or audio chat. Pastor Chris will be in touch with our various leaders to discuss this option and we encourage our groups to keep meeting virtually!
Board and Committee Meetings – We are still discussing with our various boards for their input, but based on the suggestion of the CDC we are looking to move as many of these meetings online as possible. Pastor Chris will be discussing the option of Microsoft Zoom with our various chairs and leaders in the next week. Look for communication from your board or committee chair if this would apply to you.
Community Care – We are aware that there are many in our church and community who will be advised to stay home for a prolonged period. We are in the process of setting up a community care team that can assist with various needs and concerns. If you would like to be a part of this team, please notify Pastor Dominic. If you have any needs or require assistance, please contact the church office. We are here for you!
There will be many more details and decisions communicated in the days and weeks ahead. This will be a time of creativity and determination as we hope to keep as many ministries going as possible and maintain our precious fellowship. We are at peace knowing God has this in His capable hands!
In His service,
