STATEMENT OF FAITH
We Believe:
- The scriptures, both old and new testaments in the original writings, to be verbally inspired by
the Holy Spirit. They are the inerrant, infallible and authoritative Word
of God.
II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:21
- The Bible is the complete revelation of the
will of God for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority of all
Christian faith and life.
I John 5:11-13; Revelation 22:18-19
- The Triune Godhead, one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son,
and Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19; II Corinthians 13:14
- The Personality of Satan, called the devil, and his present control over unregenerate mankind.
Revelation 12:9; 20:2-3;
Luke 10:18; Ephesians 2:2
- The fall and lost estate of man, whose total
depravity makes necessary the new birth.
Romans 3:10-12; Romans 3:23; John 3:3
- The deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, true God
and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin
Mary. He lived a sinless life and died on the cross a sacrifice for our
sins according to the scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead,
ascended into heaven where at the right hand of the Majesty on high, He is now
our High Priest and Advocate.
John 1:1; Isaiah 7:14; Hebrews 7:24--28; I
Corinthians 15:3-4; Acts 1:11
- That the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to
glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age, to convict and regenerate
man, guide and instruct the believer. His indwelling empowers the
Christian to live a godly life.
John 14:16-17; I Corinthians 2:9-10; I Corinthians 6:19; Acts 4:31; John 16:7-14
- That man was created in the image of God, but
fell into sin and is therefore lost; only through regeneration by the Holy
Spirit can salvation be obtained.
Genesis 1:26; Titus 3:5
- That the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the
cross and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and
salvation for all who believe. Only such as receive Jesus Christ are born of the
Holy Spirit and thus become children of God.
John 11:25; I Peter 1:18-19; Hebrews 9:22; Matthew 26-28; John 1:12
- Jesus commanded that the ordinance of water baptism and the Lord's
Supper (Communion) be observed by the church. We believe emmersion to be
the mode of baptism to be followed.
Matthew 28:19; I Corinthians 11:24-26; Mark 1:9-10; Acts 8:36-38; Luke 22:19,20
- The true church, the Body or Bride of Christ, consists only of such
persons who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated (born
again) by the Holy Spirit and are united together under the headship of Christ.
Only those who are thus members of the true church shall be eligible for
membership in the local church.
Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 1:18;
Revelation 19:7-8; I Corinthians 1:2
- Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the church and that the local
church has the right under Christ to decide and govern its own affairs.
Ephesians 5:23b; Ephesians 2:22; Acts 6:1-5; 13:1-3; 15:22, 23;
Matthew 18:15-17
- There shall be a bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, for
the former a resurrection unto life; for the latter, a resurrection unto
judgment.
John 5:28,29; I Corinthians 15:51-53; Revelation 20:11-15
- The second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is imminent,
pre-millennial, and will be personal and visible. This is the believer's
blessed hope and is a vital truth which is an incentive to holy living and
faithful service.
I Thess. 4:13-18; Acts 1:11; Revelation 22:7; Hebrews 9:28; Revelation 20:1-10; Matthew 24:4-51; Luke
21:25-36
- That Christ's commission to the church is to go into all the world and
preach the gospel to every creature.
Matthew 28:18:20; Mark 16:15
- That the principle of love be used in all matters of doctrine and its
interpretation.
I Corinthians 13:1-13
